A war veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after serving three tours of Afghanistan killed himself after six of his Army friends also ended their lives.
Father-of-two Dylan Jones, 37, of Llansawel, Carmarthenshire, was due to marry his fiancée Shan Thomas but took his own life just a month before the wedding.
The pair were due to get married next month but Mr Jones was found dead on Saturday, after leaving a note declaring his undying love for his partner.
Mr Jones joined the Royal Fusiliers aged 16 and served three tours in Helmand Province before leaving the Armed Forces in 2012.
Miss Thomas said: ‘He saw horrific things out there. Watching the torture, the killing of women, the killing of children, friends getting killed.
You are broken then, and there’s no one there to fix the pieces.’
Mr Jones then spent two years working as a private bodyguard in Afghanistan after leaving the Army before starting work in October last year at his fiancée’s pub The Pink Geranium Hotel in Pontardawe, south Wales.
She said he was ‘loved by the locals’ but behind his happy exterior was a tormented soul.
She said: ‘When I met him I noticed his sleeping patterns were off and his memory was terrible.
‘He was very distant some days and would be thinking, thinking, thinking.
